New Museology in Bhopal

While at George Washington University, Cecelia completed her honors thesis, “New Museology in Bhopal,” supervised by Dr. Cristin McKnight Sethi. It examined the disjuncture between participatory, community-focused curatorial strategies (seen both in exhibition design and architecture) and regulated historical narratives surrounding the formation of national identity—mediated by the state in the space of the museum. The premise of the research project was informed by her time studying regionalism, Adivasi identity, and Indigenous modernisms in South Asia at the University of Hyderabad in 2019.
